looking for venues to play guitar and sing
hey, i'm a singer/songwriter, new to the city, looking for places to play acoustic guitar and sing my big heart out (i.e. coffee houses, open-mike nights, anything else where acoustic music is welcome).

They've had a number of performers there lately, and seem to be doing more interesting stuff of late.

In the Fairmount section, you may also want try "Mug Shots" on Fairmount Avenue or the Crooked Frame Coffee Shop at 26th and Brown Streets

Best venue in the city to perform and/or watch local singer/songwriters is, in my opinion, World Cafe Live.
http://tickets.worldcafelive.com/eve...es.asp?evt=606 They have open mic nights every Monday night. I believe sign-ups are at 5:30 and performances start at 7pm.
