Default Mugged and/or car broken into?

I hate to be negative, but just out of curiosity, how many people here have been mugged or had there car broken into since living in this neighborhood?
Also if this has never happened please respond as well. Thanks....

neither has happened to me, knock on wood, but my neighbor's car was side-swiped twice parked on parrish street...enough that repairs needed to be done.

ive also noticed two smashed windows recently, with minor trashing of the inside of the cars...

I've lived here for 6 years and have never had anything happen to either my home, car, or myself. Many times I am forced to park away from my house and knock on wood nothing has ever happened.

Car was broken into in December 2004 while parked on Ogden (west side) and 29th.

For all my negativity, neither has happened to me. But I leave NOTHING in the car, and I don't take chances with unlocked windows on the home, etc. From what I understand, having spoken with a couple of people who have been in the neighborhood for a long time, most of the non-shooting crimes are crimes of opportunity--i.e., car windows smashed because someone left an ipod on the seat, or a break-in because there was an open or broken window already, or an unlocked gate. Be smart and protect yourself if need be.

true that...when you're smart, the chances of a break-in go down. I, too, never leave things in plain sight in the car, and our first-floor windows have never been left unlocked.

Neither do I. They smashed the window, pulled down the backseat to get into the trunk (and no, I hadn't put anything into the trunk when I parked so they didn't see me do that and figure there was something in there), and pulled open the glove box. Like I said on another thread, they took a 25 year-old sleeping bag from the trunk. Go figure.

In 2001 I was mugged at 25th and Kelly by a bunch of teenage thugs who wanted my bike. They took it and rode it back up 25th street. Unfortunately, through the summer I would occassionally see them ride it along the drives, but having been bodily threatened I didn't want to pursue the issue anymore.
