the turn out was great. there where 3 tims the people from the last i went. clark was very confident that the supermarket was happening and sooner than later. it looks like a 7 or 8 story building as said in other threads. he talked some government talk for a litlle while that seemed to go no where. he aslo talked about a servalience system for the streets that the cops would use to be more on top of crime in the area. he also talked about some more $$$ proposed for the area of brewerytown. azim is trying to spread the basic systems innitiative to poplar and also to 28th street.
the two proposed developements seem doable. the one at girard college is great in all accounts except that they are going to be asking 300-500K. ranging in size from 2000ft2 to 3000ft2. 4 stories. im not sure how that one will pan out. i think 7 units. the other piggy back project next to westrum are moderately sized townhomes going for 420K.21 units. who knows. i actually liked the ones at the girard college site better then the ones near westrum.

Do you happen to know the specific address of where this new development is proposed?
Also, when/where is the next meeting for the CDC? My boyfriend and I routinely attend the Brewerytown-Sharswood Community Civic Association (BSCCA) meetings on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm at the Boone School (26th and Jefferson). It seems that there is better attendance at the CDC meetings than BSCCA, although their missions are not identical, yet similar. For example, through BSCCA early in 2006 we signed up for (and are getting!) trees on our block- this was run by the PA horticulture society through the civic associations, not the CDC's. Also, there is a proposed name change for the Boone school, so someone from the District came to talk about that. Philadelphia Beautiful comes a few times per year and at the Feb. meetings, a rep. came from the PA hort. society to talk about container gardening. We also talk about issues of crime, the new grocery stores proposed, developments, and dealing with the street and water departments. Hope to see some of you loyal CDC attendees there! cdnmascot, can you post the sharswwod meeting here. i would like to come. if its at the boon school it is a block from me. if i am not mistaken, that would be this thursday at 6:30. we should start a new thread, if you dont i will. the BCDC meeting primarily revolve around developement, although they did talk about getting the pool at athletic square fixed (a proposed 900K project, unlikely.) great weather today. i spent some $$$ and got my bike on the road today and took it to the park, wicked.
