I was just there for the first time last Tuesday night. Saw the band Gratitude play...really good stuff, if anyone is interested www.gratitudemusic.com. The singer (Jonah) used to be a in band called FAR in the 90's.

Anyways, since it was our first time there we drove around and around the neighborhood looking for parking. Of course we were running late and there were no spots. We were gettin close to missing the band, so my girlfriend says, "Maybe they have a lot behind the place." Me thinking that I'm the urban guru snicker at her and say "We are in the middle of the city, they don't have lots for individual bars" Needless to say she was right and we were able to park in the lot and didn't miss a single note (it was close though).

Well thats my Northstar parking story. I learned: The GF is always right.

My suggestion is to get there earlier enough to get a spot in the lot or to allow time to circle the neighborhood.

Good luck!

Red face

I miss living 2.5 blocks away from the North Star. I love that place.

Default Grateful Dead

I once met Jerry in there. It was a long time ago and he commented about mice running around on a then dirt floor. He said he was going to write a song about it , but never did. He was accompanied by a woman, don't remember her name.

in all honesty, parking north of Girard on some of the smaller (not directly north but more north east) streets is probably a better bet than parking on Girard or especially dont park on taney st. between poplar and girard. if you see remnants of broken glass on the ground then that is a good sing that you shouldnt park there. its a crap shoot up here. one most def needs to be aware. on my street (1500 blk bailey) i parked my car just a little to north, im talking like 10 ft and some one broke my window to get $1.50 in change. the window cosy $150 to fix. at any rate dont leave anything in your car....nothing and the risk falls dramatically. good luck. if i had room in my warehouse i would say come on up. thats a good idea. i could start a satellite parking garage up here for the north star bar. any way the happy hour there rocks!
