Additionally, I will be giving a presentation along with our partner from the United Way on the Brewerytown Technology Initiative. i recieved a aabra flyer in the mail yesterday that was aying that they where trying to petition the penrose lofts because the units where $2000/month. last time i heard from the rep. they where $700 month. there was also some talk about property taxes the area that worded very carefully and did not discuss the fact that there is a city wide overhaul of property taxes not only in brewerytown. one good thing that was discussed in the newsletter was the 3 months this summer of murders that frequented brewerytown this summer. i was hoping that azim could discuss this at the meeting tonight. i cant tell you how many times i hear gun fire around here. people around here dont seem to think that there is anything that they can do about it either, and by the way i have seen the police deal with things, they dont either.

the meeting is most definately tonight at 6:30 at the PHDC office (30th and thonpson).
straight form pennrose: 59 2 br and 2 3br lofts are going to be $743-$1043 based on income guidelines. the spaces will be anywhere from 1,100 to 2,200. that should quash any rumors or scare tactics... as for safety issues, you should definately raise your issues tonight. there was work being done to create a neighborhood townwatch; i'm not sure what has been accomplished as of yet. property taxes-again, very important issue. there is already legislation in place that says that seniors with a fixed income below $14,000/yr (the vast majority of seniors) do not have to pay property taxes. additionally, councilman clarke is either working on or has already passed legislation that will not allow property taxes to sky rocket. specifially, they will not base assesments on the exisitence of new housing (the westrum stuff) for atleast 5 years. i also heard they may try to pass something that will only allow the taxes to go up by a certain percentage each year. you can bring it up with aazim if you want, but he really doesn't have much to do with the issue. it is councilman who needs to be lobbied. |
