There have been 2 shootings that I know of around 7th and green.I heard the shots sunday before last.A lot of stick ups and crimes happen all over the area they are just not reported. My son works for the courts.Crime is down played in center city as to not scare people. But it happens more than people know.In May 350 stick ups around old city and center city.A friend of mine was jumped around 3rd street after having dinner..watch your back people are having a hard time and they are not playing...

7th and Green? That's not the Fairmount/Spring Garden neighborhood. That would be closer to Northern Liberties, but I don't think it would even fall in those boundaries.

Default Car break-in Pennsylvania at 29th

Today at about 3:30 I was driving down Pennsylvania towards 29th when I saw a guy half-way in the driver's window of what looked like a green Ford Taurus (? not exactly sure). I honked and yelled and he took off, but not before grabbing what appeared to be a cell phone. The guy is black, with a black & white checkered baseball-type cap on riding a silver BMX (small) bike. He headed west towards 30th. I called the police and reported it, but if this is your car or you know who's it is, I'm afraid you've lost your cell phone.

Hmm, sounds like it could be my neighbor's truck. Did it have a - not sure what you call it....the opposite of an open pick up truck - the back is covered so you can store tools etc in it. Was it also a long truck/oversized back? Dark green?

A Ford Taurus can either be a Sedan or Station Wagon. Not a truck.

Nope, not a truck. A sedan for sure.

Default New Trickster?

I was stopped at the traffic light at Poplar and 29th street when a black, middle aged man in green scrubs approached me. He had a pair of baby booties tied around his neck. He asked if he could have a word and proceeded to tell me he'd lost his child....he was crying etc...The light turned green and I said, "I'm sorry, but I have to go" and drove off. I don't know what the rest of the story was, no doubt he was probably going to ask for money at some point...I always feel bad ignoring these people - what if he really lost his child I thought? Am I callous? Anyway, if he had, approaching people at traffic lights is not really the place or way to deal...

Wondered if anyone else had encountered this man? he had a bit of a speech impediment as well....thought he might have a hearing problem by the way he spoke.

I've felt the same way when I was approached a couple of times (although not that particular story). What makes the stories appear to be phony to me is that they tend to be long explanations - -if my child was lost, I'd be frantically looking and maybe blurt out something for help. And they're approaching me instead of a cop.

It especially bothers me when I'm alone and it's night. Not sticking around, although I'll be happy to call 911.
