I'm in that zone that either both CDCs or Community Associations cover or neither do, depending on the day or who you ask.

Apparently it is a safer place than Ward Park these days. I guess the cold has kept the old Vets from their nightly watch of the place...

Just a head's up, someone stole the registration stickers off both our cars sometime in the last week or so and I've seen a few other cars missing theirs, might be worth checking your cars before you get pulled over ....

I kind of doubt it was PMHS kids. They're generally pretty well behaved. There have been incidents involving groups of high school kids & the PMHS kids were blamed by some when in fact they were from a different school, Boone. They were actually picking on some of the PMHS kids. I'd be more inclined to believe that this was what was happening.

Re: the 28th/38th thing, the local media never seem to get that right. It can be at 8th & Fairmount or 48th & Fairmount & they'll still call the neighborhood "Fairmount."

Default Police activity last night on Kelly drive

Last night as I was driving home I heard and saw a few patrol cars heading towards boathouse row. Also a police copter was above. My neighbor who is a rower said that a woman had been rollerblading on the path and attacked by 2 boys. Her ipod and phone were taken I think. She said that 2 nights prior the same had happened to her (near the Girard point bridge curve)2 teenage boys came up behind her and attempoted to take her ipod. She managed to get away because the boys ran off. When she reported the incident to the 9th district, the cop who answered said she shouldn't bother reporting it since nothing was stolen... great, assault is not enough. Maybe beating, rape or death would be.
Be careful runners/ bikers. Carry mace!!

Default Car Break In on Ogden/29th

Just reporting that my car was broken into last night on Ogden and 29th street. I had nothing of value in there, nothing stolen - back side window smashed, trunk opened and glove box. Didn't notice any other cars broken into on my block. Usually its Pennsylvania that gets all the break ins - my car was outside my house.

And for the last time (or not)...

DON'T LISTEN TO MUSIC WHILE RUNNING/BIKING/ROLLERBLADING! It makes you a danger to yourself and everyone around you. Not that anyone deserves to be attacked, but listening to an ipod while exercising outside makes you a target.

Default Five Arrested in Fairmount Park Muggings

By Barbara Boyer
Inquirer Staff Writer

Five people have been charged after six muggings of women around Fairmount Park in the last month, police said. The arrests were made Saturday night after two women were robbed while walking in the 800 block of North Taney Street in the Fairmount section of the city. The women were approached by three men who demanded their property and threatened to shoot them, police spokeswoman Officer Jillian Russell said.
The men fled with $73 and two cell phones, Russell said. Three men and two women were later arrested. The men were charged with robbery; the women were charged with conspiracy, Russell said.

The five face charges related to five other robberies along Kelly Drive since March 11 that targeted women, Russell said.
One of the suspects was a 17-year-old male from the 3900 block of West Girard Avenue. The others were identified as Merridi Stokes, 23, and Melissa Sigda, 19, both of the 3100 block of West Berks Street; Gary Lacy-Vann, 20, of the 4800 block of Hazel Avenue; and Sharren Hale, 23, of the 1000 block of Rush Street.
