How can one prevent a trash can from being stolen? You can't chain it down because the sanitation engineers need to haul it to the truck. I had my address written on it, but obviously that did little good.

Any recommendations?
Put it out in the AM just before the pickup - it must have been quite the special trash can to have the house number and still be stolen!

I figure, write your address in really big letters on it. If someone wants to steal a trashcan so badly that they'll put one out in front of their house with someone else's address, let them look like thiefs.

Just PM Neil. He'll get you on the list. You should try to come out once in a while to help with townwatch too.

It was an excellent rolling trash can with a superior ergonomic handle.

I put it out in the AM like I always do, because I don't like bums rooting through my trash, then when I went to take it in at 7PM like I always do it was gone.

Oh well.

How often does the Town Watch patrol and how many people go out? I went to a meeting a while back, but it was about 2 months before I was getting married so I sorta got sidetracked with other things

It's very loose. We try to get as many patrols out as possible, but there's no set schedule. We also want to be unpredictable, so the crooks don't know when we're going to be out there.

Even if you can only contribute an hour or so of time a month, it would be a great help.

Default Graffiti

I just witnessed a kid (about 18 years old) spray paint his "tag" on my neighbor's wall. I went to grab my camera to take his picture, but he was gone when I returned to the window. I called the police and they arrived rather quickly. I gave them a description of the kid and they are now combing the streets looking for him (I've see the cop drive around the block several times).
I'm impressed with the response of the police and their efforts to catch this kid. I hope they get him!

I witnessed a kid last night doing the same the the building across from Angelino's at 25th and Parrish. I only saw the kid from the back since he or she was in the act of painting but he was wearing a grey hooded sweat shirt and a friend was with him. I immediately called the police but do not know if they answered my call. About 5 minutes later I saw the 2 friends continuing west on Parrish. Was your spray-painter in the same area?
