Hey everyone I wanted to say I have been painting/ moving in on 17th and Wallace and have been noticing people are not on the corner there or on Mt.Vernon lately in the evening. I don't know what the police have been doing as I haven't been down during the day but I would say the police have been doing a pretty good job over the last few weeks. I have seen them more and the dealers less so that's a good start.

I've noticed the same. 17th and Mount Vernon has definitely slowed down over the last few weeks. Things aren't perfect over there but I have seen results. Progression is all that I can ask for!

Next hopefully Wallace btwn 18th and 19th will be addressed by the cops. I dont understand how a white van can sit outside all day w/ a bunch of guys drinking and selling drugs out in the open in lawn chairs? There is no way they are not selling drugs out of the white van. Hello, crackheads hang out there... On two different occasions I have seen a crackhead "the lady w/o teeth" smoke crack out of a crack pipe in the open on Wallace btwn 18th and 19th in front of the white van!

C'mon, its soooo obvious!!

funny, it wasn't that obvious to me. i've been past those guys several times and have never seen anything to indicate that they are selling drugs there. it also seems, given the police presence, homeowners, avid gardeners, and dog walkers in the area, that if it was THAT obvious somebody would have complained enough by now to have those gatherings shut down. loitering does not always equal drug activity. it's a park. people like to hang outside by parks.

however, i promise that if i see any money/drugs changing hands, i will be a good neighbor and call the police myself.

what was up with the 4-5police cars on the corner of 16th and green last night?

The cops as usual give their "nothings going on" reply.

The crackhead lady was the first person I've actually seen smoke crack in real life and not on TV. Ive seen her smoke it on 16th and Wallace (a Sunday morning) and twice on 18th and Wallace in front of the Garden. Its crazy that someone can just smoke crack out in the open during the day!

Maybe a mod should trace his ip number. Quite easy then to contact his employer and ask them to block his access to the website. They might not be too happy that he's bragging about using their assets for this purpose, though.

I’ve requested the mod to reinstate Lbomb to the PB. Although I often disagree with him, I think that he was provoked by a “troll”. And that, as we know now, was the troll’s intent. I have sent a message to the Mod requesting that and now ask that others support my request given the circumstances.

I would agree with that. There is a big difference between "disagreement" and "incendiary comments". Lbomb has been a normal commenter on several other threads, and I would definitely not consider him/her as a "troll".

Besides, he/she made this comment:

Old 4 Sq has done more for this country and this city in the better part of his lifetime than you could even dream of.

That alone is proof of competency and pride in one's neighborhood.

Just an FYI I am not new to the city I am new to the area ..I have been living here for 4 years (in Rittenhouse) I bought in the Fairmount area. I just wanted to tell you your quote "crackheads live in the city' was awesome. I hope she smokes it on your front steps...She does it three feet from mine which is why I would like her arrested. I won't accept her public drug use as normal. Since you do let me know where you live I'll send her over to you. Your complacency is what prevents people from cleaning up thier neighborhoods. Maybe the problem is you have been living in Philly too long.
