Default shooting

Does anyone know anything about the shooting that happened tonight on 27th and Parrish? I heard 3 gun shots and saw some kids beating up another kid. This all happened around 8pm.

Teen shot near Art Museum
Residents: Racial tensions spark brawl
By DAVID GAMBACORTA & CHRISTINE OLLEY

A 17-year-old white male was shot and critically wounded last night in the Art Museum area during what neighbors said had been a brawl with racial overtones.

Police said Robert Pierson, who lives in the neighborhood, had been shot in the neck at 27th and Parrish streets about 8 p.m. while several young white and black men were fighting.

A family member said Pierson was near death when he was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and had to be resuscitated.

At least three witnesses said the fight had begun with an argument over a white woman who dates black men and brings her dates into the neighborhood.

A bottle was thrown through a window as the youths fought up and down the block.

Witnesses said they had heard three "pops." Police found a revolver under a car believed to be the weapon used, as well as a pair of sunglasses and a sneaker, possibly belonging to the victim.

Police said they had one possible suspect in custody.

Neighbors said there have been tensions between black and white youths in the predominantly white Art Museum area for some time.

The neighborhood was gentrified years ago and has been the home of more prosperous, and mostly white, families, while poorer black residents live on the geographic fringes.

Young men often have had verbal disputes when they encounter each other on the streets, neighbors said.

"It happens here all the time," said Chris Egras, 21, who said he is a cousin of the wounded man. "It's just another day.

"There's been a war with the black kids and white kids for a while," said Egras, who is white. "This shooting tonight is nothing new. It's just another statistic, and we're getting really sick of it."

Knots of mostly silent and worried residents stood on the streets last night as police investigators searched the area for evidence.

Another youth who wouldn't give his name said of neighborhood tensions, "It's getting scary."

Default Gunfire @ 17th and Brown

Moved myself to the floor about 9:15pm as someone figured this was a good time to open fire in the street outside my apartment.

Default a-holes

People that use guns illegally for dumb ass s*** like most people in all of philly, should have a barrell put on it facing them as well, a two-way barrell if you will...that way when they act out of stupidy, it hits them in their worthless ass. Or maybe it would make them think first before shooting; oh wait it's philly, people don't think before they shoot, except for how they are going to afford their next round of bullets. Are they accepting food stamps for bullets now? It takes motivation and will for people to change and want to succeed before any social program, educational overhaul or good guidance. God bless this city and hopefully people will start to change (cough cough).

Do you have any details, eg., time of day, how they gained entry, etc.?
