Positions Available within EducationWorks
(Home of the National School and Community Corps) School-based Support Staff These staff will work full-time at least through June 18, 2004 in various capacities serving the needs of children in the Philadelphia School District. Currently, we are looking for staff to work on: School climate and safety teams: teams dedicated to supporting school safety efforts and responding to crises in the various regions of the School District. Applicants interested in this position will collaborate closely with School District personnel on safety and school climate programs and will travel to various schools in their designated region. Experience in youth development and conflict resolution necessary. Familiarity with the schools a plus. Benefits Extensive paid training $5.15 per hour with an additional $100.00 per month worked without any unexcused absences or lateness to be paid at the end of contract Health insurance Paid holidays, vacation and sick days Paid transportation 40 hours per week until June 18, with possible renewal Consideration for AmeriCorps positions as they become available Tutoring Positions Tutors in literacy and mathematics for children who attend Philadelphia Public Schools beginning November 8. Head tutors must have a college degree; tutors must have at least one year of college; education majors are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to work late afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays, 3-10 hours per week. Benefits twelve hours of paid training required $12 -$20 per hour – depending on qualifications After-school program counselor-tutors Part-time staff to work daily from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in our after school programs, located within Philadelphia’s public schools. Part-time staff will be responsible for tutoring and staffing programs focusing on literacy, math, arts and recreation. College education and recreation majors encouraged to apply. Benefits Paid Training $8-12 per hour College Work-Study Positions College Work Study students will serve children, one-on-one and in small groups, during school and in after-school programs, drawing on your skills and interests and building theirs. We are an approved PHEAA work-study provider.
