here's a little bit of history from the marketing flyer...

"In 1906, the Winston Building first opened its doors as the publishing house for the John C. Winston Company of Philadelphia. In keeping with other publishing barons, J.C. Winston commissioned W.B. Pritchett, the architect of record for the Lippincott Building and other prominent publishing institutions of the era. Today the Winston Building stands as an historic landmark and a reminder of the heights reached by the great Philadelphia commercial printers at the turn of the twentieth century. As a workplace in the past, the Winston building was noted for its classically detailed facade, excellent ventilation, and subtle acknowledgment of the surrounding streetscape."

Default robbery on 5th floor

i lived in 503 and was robbed one sunday afternoon. luckily i was out of town. apparently someone had access to a master key (construction worker) and follwed someone into the building right past the doorman. they stole my brand new mac and a few other things. management did absolutely nothing to help me out with the situation. I moved ot after my lease was up and now live in west philly. Units look nice but after a week you will go insane especially if you live on the west side of the building (greyhound station) There are nice loft style apartments at 9th and filbert i would recommend. Just an overall terrible experience at the building and that seemes to be the general consensus at least on the 5th floor.
