Interesting. The loose repetition of forms between Mandeville place and the Comcast Building is kind interesting from this perspective. I think it is mostly a case of Mandeville Place making the butt-ugly Comcast building look a little better from one particular angle though. Actually the skyline should include the CIRA center also and who knows by the time both of these two buildings go up Pen will have figured out what it wants to do with the Postal site so maybe the foreground of this picture might actually be the most dramatic change of all.

I'm not too sure I agree with the proportions of Comcast Center, or with the bright green grass in Penn Land. I was pleasantly amused by the philly skyline advertisement though.

Lets hope Mandeville Place comes through!

i have recently browsed the other philly blogs and thought it was funny that all of the bloggers on the other sites seem to LOVE the design of Comcast Center, obviously that's not the case on PHillyblog. those blogs are much more positive and less argumentative than this one too, which sucks in a way.

i wonder why the differing preferences.

as for comcast center, the point when we will know whether the building will be butt ugly or not, is when they start hanging the skin on it. till then, we have no idea.

The Comcast building looks like abstracted middle finger flipping off the people of Philadelphia and in many ways considering Comcast's wired relationship to Governor Rendell's office the symbolism is perfectly fitting.

About the nicest thing I can say about it is that lots of office buildings all over the world are drab a and boring.

Most likely because people's cable bills are too high or their internet crashed last month or something totally unrealated, or maybe they just don't like the design, I don't know. I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised by the finished product, IMO. If Comcast is bringing as many jobs as they say to that building over the next 5-10 years, they can build whatever they want @ 17th and JFK.

why do you think it looks like that? beecause it's tall and straight? just like every other building in the world? that's kind of a silly inside joke that you think is funny, i guess.

you dont like the building, because you dont like the parties involved...just like some other bloggers when it comes to 10 Rittenhouse.

the design is certainly nothing extraordinary....but i think if the glass skin that i have been hearing they will use will accomplish the aesthetic they are aiming for, then it will be fairly attractive.

I think part of the problem is that since most of the CC office buildings are nowhere near capacity, it doesn't make sense for taxpayers to foot the bill for a new building when it is not needed and it will cause financial issues with the other buildings which now need to compete in an even more crowded environment.

The whole KOZ thing was crazy and PO'd alot of people, rightfully so.

I think they ended up getting tax breaks that were not KOZ related in the end to build this unneeded building right?

I would love to see this picture with the comcast building fixed so that it is the same angle as the other buildings-it has to be turned more. Also Mandville should be removed since it is such a long shot. I love the design but I can't see it happening in my lifetime. Who is going to buy all these million dollar plus apartments? Even that Allen Domb project where Philly mag had their show house last year isn't half sold yet. Maybe Wheeler's building added instead.

Mandeville is a long shot? do you have inside information on this one?

who has bought out all of the million dollar plus apartments at Symphony house, tivoli, Waterfront square (both towers sold out), old city 108, etc.? this is a metro area of over 5million people, and is growing more and more as an Acela suburb of NYC. the market is there. plus it is mixed use, with some office and retail space mixed into the lower levels.

this project seems to be movig along quite well.

look at the website: http://www.mandevilleplace.com/
