Cut the lock or twisted it off with a pry bar of some sort? The reason I ask is I saw a twisted u-bar from a lock sitting on the sidewalk in that vicinity this morning (on 19th, somewhere between Pine and Lombard.) If that wasn't your lock I saw, then there was another bike stolen from the same area.

Thanks for being observant. Was this in an alley on 18th, just one block south of Rittenhouse? I saw the same U-lock.

My bike was stolen from the intersection between 19th and Pine. All that was left was one bar end, and the top part of my lock. The 'U' was gone. When I got home this evening, I saw that the rest of the lock had vanished, maybe someone threw it away.

I'll try pawn shops tomorrow. Any specific ones anyone knows might be interesting? I was think I'd just make a list of anything close to me, some in West Philly and some in NoLibs, and also visit bike shops with flyers.

Don't forget the one on South St. Of course watch Craig's List for anyone trying to sell it.

Mike's Bikes on Passyunk and Mifflin...dude buys shady bikes. Check in there.

University City is a stolen bike black hole and if it crosses the river it's gone forever.

Not on 18th, but this probably was your U I saw then. As it happens, on my way to work last night after my previous post, I saw the badly mangled U was still there - on the east side of 19th just about 2/3 of the block down from Pine toward Waverly.

I have recently noticed an oddly placed bike lock on the sidewalk right by the corner of 18th and Manning as well. I have a parking spot just down from there and walk by every day. This U-lock (black with a bit of orange...descriptive, I know) looked as though it had been picked for sure.

It turned up a couple of days ago...it was resting on top of one of those cement pillar things between the curb and sidewalk.
