And the CC authority has shown itself to have not the slightest concern even for the promises it made before about preservation, like the fund they were supposed to contribute to to support preservation of the surrounding buildings.

I will bet they used that fund to destroy the historic North Broad Street buildings of 111-115 North Broad. After all, that destruction wasn't in the original budget.

They're going to need the rest of that money to figure out what to do with the abcess left in the plans without those two buildings, which they still haven't figured out.

![]() Are you sure they didn't already know of the deplorable conditions of these building and all the mold and massive water damage .. ...while they were designing the facade.

111-115 North Broad Street were neglected while vacant. Only the frontages were to be incorporated, and could easily have been- as has been done worldwide with historic buildings.
At one time while contemplating destruction of those frontages despite the agreements reached with preservationists, the authorities proposed their replacement would be a pocket park. The pocket park would be in the shade, and so ideal for the homeless during the summer. |

Honestly I wasn't half as peeved about the buildings being torn down as I was about the sneaky backhanded way the state went about it. But that's Pennsylvania. Back room sleaze bags cutting corners to line their pockets. Buildings in far worse condition have been saved. Were these two buildings nearly as worthy as others that have been saved? Definitely not. Did they deserve the attention the Hysterical Society wanted them to have? Probably not. I don't doubt they knew from the beginning they were going to tear them down, but they should have gone about it with some level of tansparency. And if they did know all along the buildings were going, and it was considered in their plans, then they haven't released anything yet because all the renderings and floor plans still include those two buildings.
