Just found out about Cafe de Laos tonight so I will have to try it out soon. I'll get back to you in a couple days
I was at Drexel for 5 years so thats why I went to Lemon Grass but I still go there. I've taken my mom, boyfriend and boss and all have liked it very much. (Not that they're thai experts or anything) |

Does not good count? I didn't get sick or anything but, the Pad Thai at Pad Thai on 2nd near South was really lousy.
I didn't like it the 1st time I went after they 1st opened. Went back recently after hearing good things on PB. I won't give them a 3rd shot. Also bad was the Thai Shack near Rittenhouse. (I tried to give that one to a homeless guy ... he wouldn't take it.) |

I second that, though I wonder if it's slipped since new ownership took over. Try the deep fried red snapper - it's amazing.

[quote=rabidog;813378]hey guys - if you like the place in RTM, definitely do yourself a favor and go to erawan at 23rd & sansom - same owner, her name is toun and she can often be seen working the kitchen at both. erawan has more variety than the RTM stand, which is why they get a big thumbs-up from me.
quote] BTW the thai place in RTM, the cooks are mexican. It probably wasn't the case when it first opened. |

I used to live above Erawan. Sometimes it's the best Thai I've ever had... other times it's decent, but not great. Hit or miss. They recently remodeled and went BYOB. I've been there once since and it was good.
I must be the only person in the city that thinks the RTM place is awful. I've been there twice and couldn't finish my food either time. It was inedible. Spring rolls are soggy, sauce tastes like candy and the pad thai was a solid ball of noodle starch coated in sugar and fish sauce. I got a curry there also and couldn't finish it. Something in it tasted rancid. |
