Question Vegetarian Food near 20th and Market?

Potential new-hire coming to town for an interview and looking for a place to sit down and grab some lunch - he is a vegetarian. Any good places around 20th and Market (3-4 blocks walking is fine) that has some good vegetarian food on the lunch menu?

Thanks!

Almost every place in this town has vegetarian items on its menu. You also get mock meats here. What kind of cuisine are you looking for?

If you both like Chinese, you can go to Square on Square at 19th and Chestnut.

i work at 19th and market and am vegetarian. here are my basic suggestions:

- marathon grill (at 19th and market) - my top recommendation. they have great salad options including grilled tofu as well as great sandwhiches and a vegetarian chili. a great "corporate" place to go for lunch. also a good non-veggie menu.

- cosi (on market between 17th and 18th, i think) - another good "corporate interview" place that has a couple good vegetarian sandwiches, soups, and a great signature sald. has great non-veggie options too

- mamas (on 20th between market and chestnut) - small and no frills, but the falafel is probably the best in the city and i highly recommend it. totally vegetarian.

- su xing house (on sansom between 15th and 16th) - a longer walk, but have a great lunch special. for like $7 you get soup, appetizer, and an entree. totally vegetarian.

feel free to pm me btw.

Mama's...I love it!!!!

The ones mentioned by sifelaver are also good, especially the chinese place.

There's one more, Gianna's grille, but I haven't really been in there, so can't comment on the quality fo food, though I had a colleague saying it was good food.

I'm looking for something a little more upscale. Would have done something like Twenty21 but it is closing up for the summer.

the problem with that gianna's location is there are only two tables indoors. there may be one table outdoors.

unless you are hiring senior management, you will be fine with marathon at 19th and market and your guest will appreciate the vegetarian options. there is nothing more upscale within 4 blocks that has better vegetarian options. unless you want to go to continental - that's up to you. they have a couple decent veggie options.
