To be serious for a second (which is hard to do after a giant dick picture) - we hear so much from Nutter and Ramsey about "more cops walking the beat," but does anyone ever actually see cops walking a beat? I don't mean in a squad car, and not on a bike, and definitely not on those ridiculous Segways but just a cop walking a beat through a neighborhood like the old days.

I'll risk coming off as naive to just hear what people have to say but I feel like not only does that show a visible presence on the streets but it also builds the kind of community relations that the police department never ceases to cite as part of the solution.

Granted it's a different story in places like West/North Philly where cops need the protection of a squad car, but Old City/Society Hill/Queens Village/Gayborhood etc., are all in the same police district I think. Wouldn't this work?

I absolutely agree. I just read an article about a whorehouse that was just busted in chinatown. The city's chief inspector was quoted as saying "The mayor and the commissioner have vowed to crack down on quality-of-life issues in the city."

This is B.S. The aura of this city seems to suggest if its not a gun incident or homicide, it doesn't matter. Districts with quality of life issues have been losing officers to districts with murders due to the decisions by top brass. Yeah, murders may be happening in the ghetto-but I didn't work hard to have my family live in a decent neighborhood only to be hit with substantial amounts of violent crime since there aren't enough police on the streets.

Take up crack smoking and you can move to the neighborhoods with more cops.

In today's tough economy, we shouldn't be taking jobs away from hard working women. They should only be allowed to arrest the unemployed from here on out.

In another thread they joke about a guy getting killed.

One even mentions stereotyping because the guy thought the club was hip-hop when it wasn't or because he also mentioned how young black men are killing each other at an alarming rate.
I guess you're not supposed to mention that stuff so you can be in with the in crowd of political correctness.

What a shame to see this all becoming so common place that it's a joking matter.

hmmm...isn't that statement the very essence of "stereotyping"?
