So my fiance and I are moving into 1500 Locust tomorrow. We're both very excited, but, of course, have the usual worries about high-rise apartments.
Have a few questions for current or ex-residents: How late is the indoor pool open? Are there lifeguards? How late is the game room open? If you have a car where do you park it? Is the sundeck a good spot to watch the July 4th fireworks? Have you had any problems with 'loud neighbors?' Any advice for a new resident? Thanks! ![]() |

Hmm, well you guys haven't been all that helpful....
- The Management company of the building gave us our lease - No, I'm not bragging. Just asking questions. - I believe they changed the elevators some time ago, and that the getting stuck issues have subsided. Anyone have any answers to my previous questions? iMuchos Gracias! |

The front desk will be able to answer your questions about times. The building has a connecting parking garage. I imagine the residents park there. I doubt if you can see the fireworks from the sundeck. Even if someone living there has a problem with loud neighbors, doesn't mean you will.
My advice - enjoy living there. |

I guess they must have noticed it hit their pocketbooks during the condo boom when people where passing them up. Rental is hot again now, even in my old building. A starbucks is now opening up on the SE corner of the Wanamaker building across from my old place.

I lived there a few years ago. It's a great location and the staff is very nice, especially Frank at the front desk. I moved because the rent got too high (increases of $90/month every year). The mortgage for my 2 bedroom condo is less than the rent would have been had I stayed in my 1 bedroom apt at 1500.
I can't remember how late the pool was open. 9PM seems to ring a bell. Yes, there is a life guard. I didn't have a car, but people I know parked in the lot next store on Locust or the one on 15th, just after Latimer. You can't see the fireworks on the 4th. The outside deck faces South. The only noise issue I had was a violin player who would practice rather late. I could only hear it in my bedroom when the tv/radio was off (usually when I was trying to sleep). A kick to the wall usually silenced it. The elevators were a bitch. I lived on the 17th floor and started walking down through the garage and taking the its elevator to the street rather than wait (sometimes 20 minutes!). The fire alarm seemed to go off quite a bit too. Hopefully both of those issues have been resolved. Be sure to take advantage of the free yoga and pilates classes in the rec room. I also liked the fact that a suite (2 bedroom / 2 bath) was available for rent by the night. I often used it when my parents would visit. I think it was around $85/night...way cheaper than a center city hotel. Last edited by MmeGrey : 06-24-2008 at 12:17 AM. |
