Default To dump or not to dump?

Who here dumps or throws stuff out the window at obnoxious people?

It usually doesn't bother me, but when some one sits in their car for a half hour honking the horn every 20 seconds at 1.30 a.m. I get a little less compassionate.

I think they ended up moving to the sidewalk with their buddies to hang out? and act rowdy. I accept that the city is loud but the level of noise was just down right ignorant.

I had a pot of peanut oil heating on the stove but they moved before it heated up.

I guess I could call the police but thats not as fun.

A few years ago I dumped a bucket of water out of a 6th floor window onto some noisy people who were loitering outside of my dorm at 4am, if that counts.

Yes that counts. Where you met with objection at all? I was definatly on the brink of doing something but thought it might be a bad idea. I would hope it would be recieved as a tit for a tat but in this day and age you just don't know what sort of retaliation could ensue. A few years ago some drunks piggybacked their way into an apartment complex I was living at and beat the crap out of a neighbor. I think it was girlfriend problems but shootings these days appear to occur for pretty petty things.

Well I was kind of quick...threw the water out, slammed the window shut so they couldn't tell where it came from, and waited for the screams.
I was in a dorm back then (UArts) so they probably could have come inside and complained to the guard, but I never heard anything about it.
I wouldn't do anything really harmful though...like hot oil...the water got through to them and I got my sleep. Passed my midterms just fine.

While I've certainly wanted to, no I never would because people are freaking crazy. You never know what they will do.

Before I lived here I a friend in NY lived on the upper west side. She was plagued by car alarms. So she kept some eggs on hand. (after the expiration date) and when the alarms went off she would egg the offending vehicle - from her window.

Alarms go off so often - no one pays attention. Long long ago I used to but now they are just normal. Owners should just disconnect them if they live in the city don't you think - or run the risk of eggs.

The movie "Noise" was at the Ritz recently.

Aural Examination

By STEPHEN HOLDEN
Anyone whose blood has boiled after being kept awake by a persistent car alarm can vicariously relish the revenge taken by David Owen (Tim Robbins), a Manhattan lawyer with a short fuse. Rushing into the street one evening, he gleefully vandalizes the offending vehicle.

His impulsive vigilante act quickly settles into a pattern that leads to repeated arrests and a 30-day jail sentence. His wife, Helen (Bridget Moynahan), a cellist, throws him out of the house, and he loses his job. As his crusade widens, he leaves cards at the scenes of his crimes, identifying himself as “the Rectifier.”

I am always envious of people who live in multi-unit buildings because it's difficult to remain anonymous in a 3 or 4 story condo townhouse.

A dream I'll never fulfil.

However, I would pay money to see those people scramble. LOL

A few years ago an inconsiderate person had a habit of honking about 1 or 2 at night on Calumet Street. Her repetitions were her undoing. One night there was a crack, and the back window of her car shattered. She screamed. I don't believe she ever did it again. I am guessing that the person used a pellet gun. I think I know who it was, but who am I to say?
