This morning just before 2am approx I was awoken with what can only be called a "hail" of bullets. I 'd say about 8 or 9 shots. Just from the rhythm it made. At first I jumped towards the window to try to get a look at who was doing it - I am on a high floor - but when the kept coming I thought - ah no.... I don't know how many floors up you have to be to be safe. I thought - geeze how many can there be?

This is the second time police have been called to that area in about a week - there is a bar on market across from the murano - Level something. When ever it lets out about 2am there is something going on. Last time it sounded like a drag race and there were two large 3 wheeled motorcycles.

Then people started screaming a woman kept saying OMG and I knew it was safe to come to the window.

The police were not there yet I was going to call but very quickly I heard the sirens. The crowd just started to come out from the bar to the parking lot. I couldn't see where the person was until the crime tape came out. Then I could see a black male on the sidewalk. And I was hoping he wasn't dead - the ambulance came, but when it took a long time leaving and there were no sirens - I guess he was dead.

The crowd was practically rioting - i'd say about 200 people trying to get to the lot to get their cars. The police did a good job of dispersing them without any incident.

The crowd had been crawling all over the cars under the crime tape... the body was lying face down on the sidewalk of 21st st. There was a fence and then come cars. A large white car - 4 door in particular. The police were looking for bullets I guess when they opened the back door for quite a while. This was after the crowds were gone. Another ambulance arrived, silently and unfortunately another body was bulled out of the back seat of the large white car. Another black, I think male but could have been a woman. White tank top, shorts. Again the ambulance left silently. Neither the crowds or police had noticed the second person until the search for evidence was made. If someone did - I could not tell from above, they didn't do anything about it.

Those bullets were fired very fast in succession maybe automatic fire? I do not know much about guns
- or any of this stuff.

I am blogging this cause I can't sleep and I guess need to get it out of my system.

Last summer there was a night where a gun was out on the street about the same time but no shots were fired. I only know there was a gun cause folks were yelling and someone in front of Medusa said - did you see that gun? - or something like that.

Because there is a free parking lot there - no body seems to pay to leave anyway - the people from the bars use it.

I know this happens all over philly. its the first time I have had such a birds eye view of it. Hoping its the last...

Those poor families, those poor men. After I figured they were dead that's all I could think. - this is stupid... not fond of 2am here on 21st.

Thought you all would like to know...

so how many stories up can a bullet travel? My bedroom is right there... so just wondering.

I don't know what the answer is accept prayer - but this has got to stop.

ITs 3am and I needed to talk to process - didn't want to call and wake anyone up. so I will review and edit as needed tomorrow. If its confusing.. that's why.

No it sounds like you are pretty shaken up. It will be somthing for you to remember in the years to come. Did I ever tell you about the time I wandered into a convention of tranvestites (but didn't realize it) at the old Hershy Hotel back in the early '90's on a Sunday morning? Talk about a dream. Where did all these really ugly women come from anyway? OK back to bed, to sleep, to dream.

As a kid I was taught that a bullet can travel for a mile and still be dangerous. Those were .22 long target rifles. I don't know how that translates to larger caliber handguns or to automatic weapons. (I sincerely doubt the assailant(s) used target rifles last night.)

People here can be so cold.You may want to see your doctor after what you went through .It may casue Post Traumatic Stress later.I saw a person die before and it did not hit until a few days later and I had to be rushed to the hospital

Great - i'm cassandra - my dreams come true!

a rifle!!!!! I did n't know those could fire so many shots so fast.

After posting I looked down again and there were 9 little orange cones on the ground. I guess those were where the bullets were.

that's weird angle wise.. if the shell casings were near him then the bullets were far away say 70 feet - he was on the sidewalk near the phone... and there were two men dead on the scene. I saw them take him away. if the other was not shot he died some other way. It was too dark to see.

this is weird....

So far all of the online and television news accounts of the CC shooting only mention one man fatally shot. Nothing yet of any other casualties.
