Would you rather he were still alive and he maybe decides to mug or shoot you or a family member one day.

Welcome to summer in Center City.

There's anywhere between 4 to 7 murders a year in Center City depending on how crazy it gets.

I thought I was OK around 13th and Chestnut since I was next to City Hall. Nope.

5 murders and 1 near-fatal shooting underneath City Hall itself from Jan 07 of Feb 08, and that was just fatalities.

I had the same experience as you.... there was an argument that resulted in a shooting on the 4th floor of the Adelphia House, in an apartment that faced my building, so I got to hear those 3 shots up close and personal [I had my windows open]. CSI that night and into the next day.

Philadelphia Management (who ran the building I was in) wouldn't say anything about it to me or anybody else who lived in the Crackadelphia. I had to find out about it in the Daily News.

The lesson here is that the crazy thugs are all over the place, and if you think it's allright outside town, you're wrong. They're in the suburbs too, especially in BucksCo and Jersey.

The rule of thumb at night is to keep an eye out for packs of teens and tweens in the hip hop/urban gear, and that includes not venturing near their hangouts while on foot. Even then, that doesn't necessarily mean you are safe. I was out the evening the crazy dude shot up a vehicle on Sansom Street, then shot at a cop and ended on a chase down Walnut Street and ditched his car in the Schuylkill River.

Luckily for everybody and the PA Justice System, the dude drowned in the frozen river, and he did everybody a favor and saved us a lot of money prosecuting and jailing his sorry ass.

a rifle!!!!! I did n't know those could fire so many shots so fast.

After posting I looked down again and there were 9 little orange cones on the ground. I guess those were where the bullets were.

that's weird angle wise.. if the shell casings were near him then the bullets were far away say 70 feet - he was on the sidewalk near the
phone... and there were two me
n dead on the scene. I saw them take him away. if the other was not shot he died some other way. It was too dark to see.

this is weird....

$10 says it was one thug who was shooting at a thug-in-training-wheels, as they say.

I think the shooting at Temple today took the cake. Both the shooter and the victims were students... who turned up at graduation... and a shooting breaks out.

I couldn't help but laugh.
