Default 222 W.Rittenhouse shut by L&I

Anyone know what the story is? The building has L&I cease operations notices posted, citing lack of electric, water utilities and fire protection systems, and I see a temporary transformer behind the building. The notices state that commercial and residential units may not be occupied after June 8. As a result the Tuscany Cafe is also closed. This was a Korman Suites building in recent years (they also own One Rittenhouse aka 'aka' at 18th & Walnut.)

Apparently Korman gave it up in 2007. It is now run by Sentinel real Estate Corp. Also rents seem lower then when it was KormanSuites. I knew someone who lived there for 6 months while her apartment was repaired from fire damage three years ago and at that time it was a 1st class building under Korman. www.apartmentratings.com had only one review and it was negative.

Utilities are fixed and Tuscany reopened late yesterday... I had coffee there this morning and talked to Suzanne. Everything's back to normal. Could you alert the blog so that people know? It's a shame, they lost a lot of business last week through no fault of theirs.

I wonder how the entire building managed to lose electric service for at least a week and a half.

Besides Tuscany being reopened, I see there is a new Now Leasing sidewalk sign outside the apartment entrance today.

Once in a while a buildings transformer fails which is supplied by and repaired by PECO but it should be less than 24hours to fix, especially a residential building.
