Default Who has the best Bangers & Mash in Center City?

I did a forum search on this and couldn't find anything. It seems it's hard to find a place who does this dish well. Fergie's had it as a special once, but it was terrible. Black Sheep's is nearly as bad.

Fado does it right - 6 sausages, peas, thick dark gravey, lots of mash potatos.

Lets hear your testimonials?

Over the past few weeks we've had my (English) husband's Scottish Father & wife with us & the general consensus has been that the Bangers & Mash at both the Black Sheep and Dark Horse are excellent. I didn't have it at Black Sheep but I did at Dark Horse & would agree it was extra yummy.

PS Never heard of peas being included in a traditional Bangers & Mash. [EDIT: Having said that, I don't doubt Fado's are good, I've never had their Bangers & Mash but everything I have had there has been great. I especially like their Boxties.]

It's not CC, but New Deck has some decent B&M, good shepherd's pie as well.

Can't make any restaurant recommendations, but I had to comment that it's really, really difficult to screw up bangers and mash. One way, I found out in Ireland, was to use those horrible sausages they serve to tourists who don't know what a proper sausage should taste like. IMHO, it only feeds into the stereotype that Irish cuisine is an oxymoron.

So . . . if you can find a restaurant that cheats by using Italian sausage or actually serves the authentic Clonakilty sausage with gravy made from its fat, you've got yourself a fabulous plate of banger & mash.

Using Idaho potatoes goes without saying.

It's not Center City but take a trip out to Lafayette Hill and head to Brittingham's. They have good bangers and mash.

I had never heard of "Bangers & Mash" before, but it sounds pretty good.

It seems to be a Irish/Scottish thing, is it terrible that I'm 75% irish, and never heard of it?
