It seems to be a Irish/Scottish thing, is it terrible that I'm 75% irish, and never heard of it?
Irish/Scottish/English thing. What's the other 25%?

I am reminded of this exchange on the tv show Will & Grace between John Cleese (playing Lyle) and Megan Mullaly (playing Karen)........

Lyle: You're not going to get rid of me easily, Karen. I'm going to stick to you like bangers to mash.
Karen: You're not getting your banger anywhere near my mash.

I really, really, really hate to say this, but Kildare's at 2nd and Lombard has absolutely amazing bangers & mash. Though I'm 100% Irish and in Ireland most years, I'm certainly not an Irish sausage specialist so take it for what it worth.

I've never had them at Fado, but if I were to guess I'd have said Fado or the Bards would have the best(if the Bards even serves them). The food in general at the Bards(20th-ish and Walnut) is a notch above Fado.

Imagine what fun they could have had with Toad in the Hole. Or Spotted Dick...

I don't think I've ever had bangers & mash in the city, but I've had it up at the Ship Inn in Milford, NJ a number of times.

And here's my own attempt that I made last fall with some apple/pumpkin sausages:

I had them at the Irish Times, located at @nd and Bainbridge. The whole meal was excellant.

Its been a few years since I lived in Ireland, but I thought Fado's bangers and mash was pretty darn good (or at least made me remember the kind I made after our Saturday shopping trip to Superquinn's when I lived there)!

I know that the Dark Horse serves proper English sausages; those are difficult to come by! (my English husband gives them a thumbs up)

Fado's were okay, I guess. I've only had the sausages as part of the breakfast at the Dark Horse, not as part of b&m though.

Try the Elephant & Castle, they at least do a nice roast with yorkshire pudding and gravy!
