LOL, heard them at the Loew's Hotel hollering on my way to the office this morning. I cannot imagine dealing with that all day. Saw several stands when running errands around Rittenhouse and they were calm. Watch out for the stand on Walnut in front of the Holiday Inn Express. There is a guy trying to get contributions really getting in peoples faces. I'm thirsty for lemonade now!

How are they more annoying than the crazy whack-job gorilla evangelists with the immensely loud megaphones in front of the Reading Terminal.
Alex's Lemmonade Stand is only there for a few days and it's for a good cause. The crazy whack-job gorilla evangelists with the immensely loud megaphones are there year-round and they only serve themselves.

(b) the ones in front of RTM don't sing along to Cher and Carrie Underwood! There's no question that it's a worthy cause, but they certainly turned me off of going out to get a lemonade with all their noise.

Call L&I on them for dispensing drinks without the proper permits. I'm tired of nonprofits getting away with doing what they want just because its doing good for someone. Even if its just lemonade, if its improperly handled it can spread diseases as easily as in a restaurant.

They are not any different. I guess that makes them crazy whack jobs. If I was a customer at Loews I would would complain to the manager and get them thrown out. I would also tell the charity I won't support them becuase of their low class tactics. Last edited by zete_374 : 06-07-2008 at 01:16 PM. |

The whole way the Alex's stands have gone over the past 2 years makes me sad. It has just become a huge business now and has lost something along the way. I mean the money they raise is awesome as nobody wants to see sick kids, but they need to make some adjustments and getting rid of the megaphones is a good place to start. The company makes millions now, so there is really no need for the pressure tatics when you can get their flavors at Rita's stands, in grocery stores, etc etc etc. I had two yesterday and didn't want anymore but that was not the right answer to the ***hats @ 2nd and Market who were all "hey - this person doesn't like lemonade". Hey buddy, screw you... learn some manners and how to run a business.
