Well, THAT stopped a run-away thread dead in its tracks (thank goodness).

I cannot imagine the anger, frustration, and complete heartbreak of what you went through. Losing a child has to be one of the worst experiences a human being can suffer. My heart goes out to you.

We give to St. Jude's every year (and Macy's made a donation to St. Jude's anytime a guest bought us a gift from our wedding registry), believing that most of our donations go directly to hospital services provided for the kids.

Thank you, those who responded. My point was that we just have to keep things in perspective. Believe me, I get annoyed and angry at a LOT of the injustices and inconveniences of everyday life, but then I think "It could be worse-and for ME, it has been." Most of those tiny things don't mean anything in the long run, so I just try to slough them off. It's just not worth getting so worked up over what usually amount to transient nothings.

Dear jithole,

I'm so proud that you picked out a misspelling I made on my celphone. You are amazing, really. I left a misspelling on this post so that you can once again feel proud for pointing out a typo.

In the meantime, I'm proud to have letters from-yes-Alex's Lemonade, Philabundance, The Children's Hospital Foundation, amongst others for donating 10's of thousands of dollars this year alone. My wife is equally involved since she diagnoses and treats cancer patients on a daily basis, and volunteers for more organizations than your do-good typo-finding ass has ever done.

I also have three scholarships I've set up for underpriviledged kids, but I'll save those stories for another one of your typo finding adventures, j-hole.

I had a cousin who accidentally shot himself with a hunting rifle. You should be ashamed of YOURSELF for making light of such a tragic situation. What a scumbag. How could you ever say such a thing to me since you should know that someone in my life died such a horrible death.

Get over yourself. Your kid died of cancer, as my cousin accidentally shot himself. My grandmother died of cancer. My wife's father died of cancer, which is why she furthered her education to become a radiologist.

My uncle died when his car went into a lake and he didn't know how to swim. On and on-everyone dies of something. Are we to not complain about anything because it may be for a good cause? Don't complain about loud bikes-they may be bikers doing the toys for tots bike run. Don't complain about door to door donation beggers that don't have their licenses, cause hey! its for a good cause. Don't complain about the kids illegally standing on the parkway begging for donations because its for a good cause!

alesis, I was NOT making light of anything. I would never make fun of anybody's shooting himself or anything similar. I was just quoting what another poster said on here. "Scumbag" was really over the top, but I shouldn't be surprised, I guess.

I saw Bud Dwyer shoot himself on TV. One local station ran the actual video on the noon news before they decided to yank it for further broadcasts. It was horrible.

You must really be hurting a lot to want to hurt other people so much and to be so full of venom and ill-will. I'll pray for you, you certainly need it. I wish you peace!

HAHAHAHA....hurting? I saw my uncle shoot himself on tv-and I could really care less. He was a criminal who didn't want to pay the piper, so he took the cowardly way out that destroyed his wife and two kids.

My point is that we are talking about a fricken' lemonade stand on the corner that was too loud. You and other bastions of righteousness want to act like we're procancer, pro kid killing, and whatever else you want to so loosely toss out-like the suggestion that we're ready to kill ourselves over a lemonade stand.

The simple fact is that all corporations(whether for or nonprofit) must adhere to local, state, and federal laws.

Oh, and I ate a fabulous tofu with mixed vegetables for lunch today, so I already have inner peas.

I heard quite a few people both on the street and in my office building complain that the people manning the stand (and they were Loews employees, not volunteers) were being overly aggressive and obnoxious.

I saw five other ALS stands over the Thurs through Sunday period last week. All of them were well run, friendly and professional.
Alex Scott was a lovely little girl who quietly sold lemonade to raise funds to help other children. The Loews employees working the corner of 12th & Market last week were nothing like Alex Scott.

VT, thank you for expressing what I was thinking so well.
