On the contrary, the NMA exists to promote sensible speed limits, an end to red-light running, and help maintain reasonable insurance rates. You couldn't be more off-base.

The appeals process is for people who have been wrongly cited. OP admits that they were in the wrong, but doesn't want to suffer the consequences (which they were aware of) of getting points on their license.

Arrow Advice

Funny, today I was pulled over in a bad section of North Philly for not having a PA emissions sticker, which I obviously was guilty. (I actually didnt know a cop could pull you over for this).

4 other cop cars soon appeared! - and the officers socialized for about an hour, while I waited in my car. After waiting all this time, The officer who pulled me over- named Officer Thrasher- finally gave me an 85$ ticket. I know I should have gotten the sticker sooner (I have been here in Phillie for a couple months), but I was pretty pissed over the whole spectacle. Really, I think they should have something better to do in the ghetto. (BTW: For better or worse;I am not black or suspicious- just part of the medical staff at Temple. ) Should I complain, or am I just whining?

First of all, thank goodness a cyclist wasn't in your way. I don't understand why you're trying to get out of the ticket. You did something dangerous and against the law and you were caught and penalized for it. Now you have to pay the ticket.

man, i'd really like to ride for a day in a car with one of these "oh so perfect" drivers. come on, whether it was intentional or whether you were staring at that hot brunette on the corner and just didn't notice it, i'm sure we're all guilty of running a stop sign here and there. get off your high horse!

bunnykitty: let me preface this by saying as of the beginning of spring 2008, i do not drive - when i can't walk, i bicycle. so if i had to fall on a side, it would be with the cyclists. that said, with all the near-accidents between a car and a bike i witness, the cyclist is at fault 9 times out of 10. most bikers in this city don't think red lights and stop signs apply to them, and i'm guilty of this myself. just saying. we all need to calm down a little.

Are you serious?? The OP admited guilt, they aren't arguing about what they did being wrong. I think saying that they "cause havoc" is a little much, sure it was irresponsible... but I've done it by accident before, doesn't mean I'm a dangerous driver!
BunnyKitty- they aren't trying to get out of the ticket, they admit guilt, will pay the fine, but doesn't want points on the record...points hurt, and unless it's something they do on a regular basis, I see no need to hurt the insurance and driving record any more than some cash fines! (besides a bicycle should have been stopped at the other stop sign anyway, so if they got hit, they were running one too).

Nope, not guilty of running a stop sign "here and there."

I am aware that many cyclists make it a habit of not stopping at stop signs. However, a cyclist would be in for an unpleasant surprise whether or not they stopped at the sign, would they not? Perhaps I just don't understand hubba1's reasoning... I'll admit that I surely did misunderstand the OP's intentions as far as "pleading not guilty."

I was writing a reply, but then I realized how little I actually cared about your ticket situation.

Sorry! Hope tomorrow is better for you
