Default What are your favorite things about CC?

I wanted to see what everyone's favorite things about cc are... what's yours?

What is the definition here.. is it like race to lombard or something? and delaware to Schuylkill.

to me its over to south but just wondering....

I'll start.

I love being close enough to everywhere I have to be so that I can walk.

Reading terminal.

tower at city hall

streets south of walnut - such great architecture in all the big townhouses.

The Bellview

Kimmel Center (with all its problems)

The Academy

The Philadelphia Singers

The Philadelphia Orchestra

Wanamaker building and organ

cappogiro gelato

used to love deux cheminee too - but its closed...

well maybe this is lame, but I thought it would be interesting to see what the favorite things were of PB's and maybe i was missing something. Sure I am - no one knows everything....

All the historic stuff (is that too low for cc? I think of

-washington square west and proximity to everything
-market street view from city hall at 15th.
-south street and everything that comes with it
-walnut between 11th and 17th.
-south street pedestrian bridge over 95.
-art all over the city
-evening view of philly's skyline from 10th at city park....very "streets of philadelphia"esque
-people playing trumpets/other instruments on broad and walnut, around dusk

ooohhh i can't go on anymore...the water works!!

"Center City" = the territory within the original 1682 city limits = the area between the rivers from Vine Street on the north to South Street on the south.

So many things I like, so little time:

--the pedestrian paths of Society Hill
--the charming little alleys of Wash West
--the bar that inspired "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" in the 200 block of Race Street
--the Reading Terminal Market
--Old City on a First Friday
--running into folks I know in the Gayborhood
--Friday happy hour at Bump
--strolling through Rittenhouse Square on a nice warm day
--the restoration of City Hall
--Market East Station

I could go on in this vein for a while, but you get the idea.

Here's my list:
  • Being able to walk to/from work, shopping, etc
  • Listening to church bells ringing (even if they're not real bells!)
  • Wandering around town, exploring new historic streets
  • The four squares - each unique with different sights to see
  • Helping lost/confused tourists who expect Philadelphians to be rude and nasty
  • Cobblestones and brick...colonial architecture
  • Never running out of new restaurants to try!
