Default What will become of the AIA building?

It appears to be undergoing a total restoration inside and out. I would have assumed it was going to become condos or apartments. But I have never seen any billboards or advertising to that effect as I have with every other conversion. Who's going to occupy the building when it's all done?

Architects Building to become a Kimpton Hotel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stumbled across this excerpt in the online edition of The Philadelphia Architect:

http://ga0.org/Philaarchitects/notic...70724#article1

Quote:
Just as the Architects Building, now to be converted to a Kimpton Hotel, was a landmark step in 1929, today the Center for Architecture is our generation's legacy investment in the future of our profession and the quality of our community.

Note typo in my thread title - should be Kimpton.

Thanks for the info. The classic art deco building should make a really swanky hotel.

FWIW, I tried Googling "Philadelphia AIA building", but those words are so generic that the web search results were useless, heh.

Phillyblog's own search tool works great. It is the best I have ever seen on a message board......can't say why.
