Being a native Philadelphian doesnt have anything to do with it. I saw the clip of the Jimmy Kimmel show and posted what happened, thats all. Kutcher said Demi was shooting a movie in Philly and by the audiences reaction you would have thought he said she was filming a movie in Bagdad. Having someone yell out "I hate Philly" is a glimpse of how other regions of the country still see Philadelphia.

It is what it is. Most of the country probably sees Philly as a crime ridden, violent, dirty, poor industrial city which it is in many instances. No one knows about Chestnut Hill,Wissahickon Gorge,Bella Vista or Kelly Drive. Its up to the city to try to improve, especially its focal point-Center City(Market East) and try to change that national perception.

NYC has Midtown,Chicago has the Loop and Philly has Rittenhouse which is tragically handicapped by the sustained mess over on Market East. Clean up Market East, do something with the loft district and suddenly outsiders/coventioneers see an exciting vibrant city instead of a depressed struggling ugly city.

I think that's it, thanks. It says filming starts May 20, so my belief that the movie is filming "now" is pretty accurate!

I don't know.....it sure does sound like you're not happy here. They don't get much more nedadelphian then this post. Obviously the comment yelled out on Kimmil's show was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.......but you did for some reason.

i don't see homeslice's post as negative at all -- i think he mentioned the great things about philadelphia that unfortunately outsiders don't know about. he's just being realistic about the negative image philly still carries. and he's right that we have some problems that if fixed, would be a boon to our great city.

Poor thing, haha.

It must be so annoying to be famous some times.
Delta Chi's should not be shopping at Whole Foods. Not cool.

I love how Anniston has bodyguards w/ her in in El Vez though. LOL that's priceless. Like Philadelphian's give enough of a **** to mob her. Someone should let her in on a little secret - unlike LA, where everyone's busy kissing eachother's asses 24/7, we're pretty hard to impress.

actually ... that's not true about LA. i lived there for 8 years and moved back to philly in december. it's extremely common to see celebrities in various LA restaurants, shopping, et al and people in LA could care less. it doesn't faze us. we're used to it.

but i agree, jen needs to get over herself. seriously

Sorry if this was posted already (didn't have time to read all pages), but Luke Wilson was recently filming right down the road from me in Media/Wallingford. I think the film is called "Tenure," and many of the interiors were done in Rosemont and Bryn Mawr Colleges as well. I was rubbernecking in my car, and saw an outdoor scene on Rte 252 set-up outside one of the large, historic homes there: a patio scene with a canope-like tent. Pretty cool . They had their base camp set up at the old Media Clinic on 252 and Baltimore Pike.
