What? You thought Iovine Brothers in RTM only sold local stuff? Where do you get fresh produce in this area in mid-February?

Philly.com posted a short video of the farmers' market in their redesigned food section. Not much more than strawberrys, honey, asparagus, eggs, and flowers/herbs, but the high traffic location will be good for business.
Obscenely long permalink if the video is no longer in main playlist: http://philly1.a.mms.mavenapps.net/m...6-c1766ff74650 |

It's possible. I'm not a strawberry fan at all. Don't know that I'd say I hate them (I reserve that for liver), but don't like them.

Strawberries for some, honeyed asparagus with goat cheese for others ...
I'm sure selection will improve as the season does, and the quarts of local strawberries at HeadHouse Market were $5 as well and tasted every bit of $5 a quart worth even though they were not as sugar sweet as the ones that will be coming in the first week of June. Any local strawberries available are an early variety that will have that lovely fresh taste, a bit of tartness, and a good amount of sweetness but not the sugary strawberry rush that comes with later varieties. |
