Yes and also that stretch of Rt. 73 gets very busy in terms of traffic. Number of cars that pass by in a day is a big deal to these retailers.

Aside from Marlton being a higher end place to live, the Promenade borders Cherry Hill and Voorhees and is not far from Haddonfield - all three being the most upscale towns in the area. It is the perfect location for all those residents.

I agree, Marlton may not be a world-class city, but it's definitely upscale. I love the Promenade, and I think it's a great place for pretty much all the stores there. Not to say they can't also be somewhere else, but that shopping center is definitely an ideal fit, considering that a little down 73 you also have the plaza with Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Trader Joe's, and all that other stuff.

She got it. My mom lives in Moorestown, so she's over there pretty often. The shopping center itself is pretty upscale: Apple, Banana Republic, Douglas Cosmetics, Blue Tulip, Lucky, JoS A. Bank, Sur La Table...plus there is a Williams-Sonoma, Trader Joes, and a bunch of other upscale stores just surrounding that shopping center.

It all started back in the 80s with Zagaras grocery going in right over there, and then other stores aimed at the upper class started coming into that area. Now, it's kind of a mini-KOP for NJ suburbanites. Great for them, but kind of a shame that CC doesn't even have all of those options available.

Never been to Marlton - not sure i've even heard of it.

of there is no RR there I haven't generally been.

I'm a CC gal and proud of it!

Its a curse I say - a pox upon us - Thou shalt be no apple store in cc until.......? (we have a mayor who will wait on the city streets outside a small retailer for the latest mac product? - oh no - we already had that - I don't know - you fill in the blank!)

It's a nice area. The Promenade is right on 73, you should hop over and spend a while poking through those shopping centers.

Mike: I LOVED Zagara's! I was heartbroken when the REI went in.

and not to get into a sj retail discussion, but the promenade also has a Sur La Table which is one of my favorite kitchen/cooking stores ever. Its very popular out west - not so much here in the east. fabulous nonetheless.

Hi Arlee! Nice to see that someone else remembers Zagaras! I used to ADORE that shop, some of the freshest watermelon I ever had came from there. They'd even carry/wheel the groceries right out to your car! I too was very sad when it went away. It's nice having Trader Joes in that area, but it's not the same at all.

Agreed! I'm not usually one for getting suckered in by overpriced kitchen goods (okay, that's a huge lie...), but I love this store. Their baking mats are wonderful, I use them all the time. They also have an amazing La Creuset selection in stock, more so than Kitchen Kapers or Williams-Sonoma.
