whoa! That looks spectacular!
Some questions: The web site you pointed to only gives an animation of the proposed design and after that, a number for "leasing information" as if this things are sure bet! Where did you get the layout picture? What's with the design on the side of the building? Why the giant "hole"? Is there some older building that the new one expects to built around and thus the hole? Looks like there will be office space around that hole and not just along the main tower-shaft...? I like the uneven hexagonal design of the main tower very much...! I also like that they're thinking big and tall...would be awesome to see another tower beat out Comcast as the city's tallest!! ![]() The "spire" at the very top...is that going to be for wind turbine use, similar to the proposal at "Freedom Tower" in NYC? If the height is to be maintained, that is high enough to reap some good wind energy out of this and make the building more "green." Any other details of the mixed uses of this thang? A more detailed writeup somewhere? As far as tenants, I'm not worried. If you can build a trophy tower, and lord knows this thing won't be actually be ready for move-in until perhaps 2015, by which time the city hopefully has done away with not just the gross receipts tax but actually reformed the overall taxes in order to make the city an attractive relocation hub for businesses, you can get companies to take up space in ACC. As it is, current Class A vancancy rate in CC hovers around a very low 9%, which is good and hopefully it spurs more such high-flying development proposals. Finally, I can dream about something like this getting built in Philly, can't I? ![]()

YES!! This freaking rocks!!! I think Nutter is going to throw his full weight behind it to make it happen! Every sentence in this post is going to have at least one exclamation mark! The office market in Philadelphia is plenty tight, so demand shouldn't be a problem!! If you build it they will come!!!!

Perhaps it's the "Field of Dreams" scenario--Build it and they will come?

B. Love certainly seems to be taking it seriously over at PhillySkyline. The only obstacle as he sees it is good ol' Darrell Clarke's height restriction, enacted after the Barnes brouhaha. But on the positive side it sounds like the Logan Square Neighbors Assn. is generally supportive and also the developer knows how to engage the surrounding neighbors.
This would be absolutely awesome, and an ideal use for this lot. Let's keep our fingers crossed. |
