I think the biggest problem is Darrel Clarke's 'spot zoning' last year of this area for the 125' limit (WHICH IS SUCH A JOKE IT MAKES MY HEAD STEAM). It is unclear to me whether that is easily overthrown, because of the way in which it was done. Of course, by extension this spot-zoning gives the LSNA (via their control over Clarke) some power.

It would be good if someone more knowledgeable could address the likelihood/ability to throw-out that zoning?

It is important to point out, that if Clarke had not introduced that little piece of regressive, old-school, philly-style legislation, that these folks likely could have built almost anything they would have wanted.
Looks like the folks at the Kennedy House are are serious about blocking this thing, see below

What the story doesn't tell you is that the popcorn costs $9.

Ugh, when is someone going to just tear down Kennedy House, what the heck is a that disgusting looking building doing in the central business district anyway. How on earth can the residents even feign suprise let alone object when people want to build sky scrapers in the neighborhood with all the other skycrapers in it, did they just not realize that that's where they were moving?

Edit: just read that letter, yes, why on earth would you want to move a large number of high paying office jobs into a building right up the street and thereby increase the property values in the neighborhood and have a whole lot more businesses open all around you. The amount of office space in Philly has basically been stagnant for a decade (even Comcast has been offset to a large degree by the conversion of other office towers to residential and hotel space) which is one prime reason why growth in high paying jobs in the suburbs has been far outpacing that in the city. If people don't want office space built next to all the other office space then where, prey tell, do they think it should go?

You should have added more exclamation points. I don't think you're overly enthused enough.

What part of that piece of crap did you agree with exactly?

well it can raise their cost of living.

Kennedy and many of the other residential towers are filled with fixed income seniors.

They moved in back when Center City was quite desolate..(the buildings willing to lower rents and such ..start agreements for ss incomes)

and old people tend to not like 4-5 years of construction outback.

Tough darts. The ACC Tower is being built in the Central Business District. They make it sound like it's being built in the middle of their block. The same tired old bull-plop, over and over again. Traffic...shadows....and um, shadows. Eek.

I'm with the local residents. We must do everything we can to save the Heritage Parking Lots of our Glorious John F Kennedy Soviet Urban Village Boulevard Neighborhood which are Extremely Historic and Beautiful.

And curse those new-fangled shadows that cast their deathly gloom in a southerly direction.
