For the record, B. Love is our own former Giovanni Sasso.

Indeed he is, late of G-Ho, now a Fishtowner. Why doesn't he post here anymore? Too busy with PhillySkyline?

By the time this tower would be complete probably (2013-2014) we better hope so.

I think he is probably too busy scooping the damned pro media in this town.

I'm left completely speechless by this tower.

Today I was coming down 95 into CC and I tried to blot out all of the buildings that weren't there 5 or 6 years ago. Comcast Center, Cira Center, the St. James, Waterfront Square, ResRitz. Not to mention the buildings I couldn't see coming southbound, such as Symphony House or the Murano. The skyline has transformed dramatically over the last half decade.

Now we have Waterfront Square starting up construction on at least another tower or two, 10 Rittenhouse Square & 1706 Rittenhouse either rising or looking suspiciously ready to rise, combined with serious proposals in University City, Girard Estates, and now this, not to mention other potential projects like Trump Tower, Bridgeman's View Tower, etc.

If these buildings can get financing my god how different the skyline will look 5 years from now.

Indeed indeed. He first told me about this shiny new tower last night over a steaming bowl of chili. As I heard the news I felt a warm feeling all over my body but I didn't know if it was the news or the chili. Today, after several visits to the can, I realized it was the chili.

I can see this project being held up the LSNA because this thing WILL need a zoning variation to move forward. There's the rub. Even though the ACC is completely within the CBA, it also is within the Logan Square sphere of influence. I'm not looking forward to the utter nonsense that will ensue when this goes before the Logan Square Neighborhood Association.

I don't see any way in hell the LSNA could truly hold this thing up. This isn't a 500' condo tower. This is a trophy tower IN the CBD a mere block away from a 975' trophy tower. They might bitch and moan, but at the end of the day they'll be ignored, and rightly so.

At best, they could try to get some concessions. I don't think they'll be able to negotiate anything like trying to lessen the height though.

I hope you're right.

Default Breaking News: 1500-foot Tower at 1800 Arch?

The Philadelphia skyline is about to change. Enjoy your moment in the sun, Comcast Tower, because it's looking like you'll be in the shadow of this latest of the American Commerce Center in the next few years.

Any over/unders on the number of pages for this thread?

http://www.phillyskyline.com/

Edited to add good flash rendering of the new tower: http://www.acctower.com/

In the aerial shot, it looks like it's giving the finger to the Comcast Building.

I hope it gets built, but the cynic in me kinda doubts it.
