What are your thoughts on the sidewalk ads that appeared last friday on the north side on Walnut between 17th & 18th. I believe they were for ING Direct. Back in '02, NYC tried to bans these as Nike and ABC plastered sidewalks with these plastic squares.

It was all in good fun. I think they were trying to mimic a Monopoly board. I noticed that all of the signs were cleaned up by 3pm, and I ended up winning 6 "Free Drinks" and a Children's "Savings Machine" out of it.

My wife saw a number of people almost trip on the edge of the squares, also pretty obnoxious to have ads for a bank right on the sidewalk in front of competing banks.

I think it's fine. ING Cafe is a good neighbor there and an asset to the community since they don't put them just anyplace. You have to be "special" to get one, which they think we are.
The other banks could do publicity stunts if they want. Somehow I can't feel sorry for a bank anyway.
