Default Minar Palace to reopen soon

I just got this email from Davinder Singh, part of the family who owns and operates Minar Palace.

Quote:
We have secured a location since July. We have been paying rent but the approval process with the City is taking lots of time. We expect to be up and running by January 1st. Hopefully it will be sooner. The new location will be 1304 Walnut Street. We will begin constructing shortly. I am positive you will enjoy the new atmosphere and same great food. Please spread the word and feel free to check back for further updates.
So watch that space.

now this is the thread i've been waiting for. thanks! i'm trying to picture 1304 walnut... i hope it's that space where if you peer inside you can see the exposed brick.. hope their prices don't go up too much too

that will make 3 or 4 middle-eastern / indian restaurants within a couple blocks of each other on walnut: minar palace, passage to india, samosa... i forget the other one... next to nuts to you?

It's the old location of Time Video between the used book store and the cell phone store

Maybe they will share the space and I can pick up some spicy food and some spicy videos at the same time.

Do they put crack in their food? Some of ya'll are seriously obsessed with this restaurant. I think this is the 57th thread I've seen regarding the reopening of Minar Palace.

The food is cheap and plentiful....but mediocre. It's not anywhere near as good as Tiffin - which is about as close to authentic as you're gonna get in this city. I'm betting that Minar goes buffet style in the new location.

Can't really understand why the 1300 block of Walnut has no real retail other than a florist, VIP and a really bad already existing Indian restaurant. But that's a topic for another thread.

Agreed. I went to Minar a couple times and it was decent, but nothing to get as excited about as some people seem to be. To each his/her own, I guess.

I need to check out Tiffin at some point. Too bad I don't live out that way anymore.

I wish they'd move to the Rittenhouse Square area. Oh well. As long as they still deliver.
