Hmm, keep in mind I'm not thinking for myself here. I'm for realization of full potential for the street.

Yes denims crowd may suck in general (although asian night there was decent even though I'm not asian) but I thought the decor had a certain "wow" factor however dated it is. Besides it doesn't front the street.

I don't necessarily even dislike Alfa. I repeat, I'm thinking about what is best for the street. Walnut's best use may be for tourism like it or not. I tend to think like an urban planner does.

I don't have any stupid vendetta against an establishment.

Trust me if I had my way Walnut would be littered with American Apparel girls with more stores like diesel, Ubiq etc. More like a Soho.

Pardon me if I implied you were engaged in a vendetta.

I take this post to mean that you would consider a clothing retailer or higher-concept restaurant (along the lines of something Stephen Starr might conjure up) a better use of Alfa's space than the current one.

Your point about Denim not being on the street level is noted. But yeah, it looks real dated inside. Sort of like the interior of any Boscov's. (Heading into their Granite Run Mall location recently, I felt like I should have been offered a leisure suit and platform shoes to change into at the entrance.)

Default just an update

was walking on Walnut yesterday, saw a bunch of trucks blocking traffic. Turns out they were loading equipment into that old TMobile space. Looks like the True Religion is finally getting underway... hopefully. Meanwhile, all the machines that were outside of the old B&BWorks last week are now gone. Has construction on the Juicy Couture stopped? Maybe they're just working on the inside for now... Oh and the Guess is coming along nicely, they leave the door open during constuction now. Looks decent inside.

Not at all- you think like somebody who thinks that a LV or Hermes stores means that a city has arrived. An urban planner would think mixed use- not 7 blocks on nothing but stores.

Keep in mind the Granite Run Mall Boscov is among the worst looking Boscov stores you'll find. Macy's now has a number of old lookin dated stores, with funky architecture, upon acquiring the May stores (Hecht's/Strawbridge's).

Really?

You are right because there are not convenience or eating options in every direction or anything.

I measured whether a retail district arrives by what stores it has, not a city.

Are you proud of yourself for using the words "mixed-use"? Don't make me laugh.

Soooooo proud. The key, as you stated is retail district, not retail street. Keep adding to the mix on walnut and add high end to the mix on chestnut, and then the number streets get involved as well that would make for much more of a healthy environment as opposed to just stores for 7 blocks on walnut, and then 7 blocks of restaurants on chestnut.

Im sure many of you have undoubtedly found out already, but Apple and Theory (men's and women's) stores are coming to Walnut Street. Theory will be located in the former Rosenbluth travel space while Apple will be taking over one of the spots currently occupied by Ann Taylor.
And yes, Philly is decades behind in the retail game. A city of this size should already have Gucci, Neiman Marcus, Dior, Prada, LV, etc.

I cant help but be cautious given the fact that this is your very first post and your making wild claims like that.

not "redskin" first of all.

I spoke to a Rittenhouse Sq. business owner who sits on the neighborhood committee. I was told those were definitely happening and their leases have already been signed. The only uncertainty was the exact location of Apple, but the source was almost certain that it would be located where Ann Taylor currently is, because they will not be renewing their lease.
