I'm sorry you need a giant yellow sign to tell you where to buy things.
And where in the world would you put a BestBuy in center city?

FWIW, though, there is one within a few miles of cc. A Staples, too. you could easily take a cab, or try Philly car share.

If Best Buys are in downtown Baltimore, Chicago, New York, and Boston, a space could certainly be retrofitted here for one.

Grasso proposed putting one in a new development at Broad & Vine.

The burbs forum states that there is an Armani Exchange coming to Cherry Hill...sfjoeynphilly, are you sure Center City is getting a store as well?

They also mention a Nordstrom's, Container Store, Crate and Barrel and Apple store going to Cherry Hill. Aren't those our top 4 on our Center City wishlist? Uggh...I am not happy about any of this.

Default lets see here...

...Armani Exchange has big expansion plans coming up...its not unreasonable that there's two stores opening up so close to one another.

Nords, Container Store, C&B are very very suburban-oriented stores. Only under strange conditions have those stores expressed interest in locating in a downtown environment, so chances are CC wasnt even on those stores' radars when considering opening another store in this metro...nothing against it of course, just not their typical scene, ya know?

regarding the S&C building. That's all I heard. Doesn't anyone know anything else about this block of Market?

regarding Armani Exhchance, yes, I'm sure. The old Tweeter location on Walnut.

Also, Crate and Barrel has (not sure if they're still currently) purused a space in CC for the last couple of years. Apparently they can't find the "right space". Crate and Barrel has several fabulous downtown stores - ala San Francisco, Chicago, NY, etc.

Many retailers are and have been shopping for the right space in CC. Why hasn't SF based West Elm opened a store in downtown SF? They haven't found "the right space".

btw, is anyone else in disbelief that we don't have an apple store in cc??

I usually walk to the Staples at 11th and Market.

Oh yeah, don't try to chat lightheartedly with those guys--selling computers and computer accessories is extremely serious business, apparently. I never imagined that buying a keyboard could be such a frosty experience.

I did hear that 801 Market was under agreement, budget and main floors, to a retailer that's been discussed here. I'm suprised it hasn't broken yet. On another note, a BoA ATM store is about to open at 733 Walnut. BVAN posted on another thread about the St. James facade on Walnut, it really is a mess. I'm a little suprised that with all the money invested by Oceanaire and The Ayer that there hasn't been more pressure to fix it up.
