Default article on "River City" project in the Inky today

http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/16235841.htm

Your thoughts re this project? I for one think the height restrictions are stupid seeing as the cities largest skyscrapers are but a few blocks away.(and are creeping ever closer what with the Murano under construction and the other propsed towers in the area) I can see a time where there are skysrapers from City Hall right down to 30th Street and perhaps a few tall buildings around 30th street. The KOZ ruling they seek kinda makes me roll my eyes yet again.

Several people have been discussing the River City project over in the Architecutre and Urban Planning area for awhile now. If people want to discuss it, maybe the threads should be merged (probably within the CC thread, as it is a CC project).

"The reaction of the audience was that it's a bit too massive," said Logan Square resident Russell Meddin. "The overall feeling was it would create a 60-story wall that would obliterate sunlight for blocks, casting the area from JFK Boulevard to the Ben Franklin Parkway into darkness."

HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!!!!! It's like one of those tsunamis from the Day After Tomorrow!!!! It will cast the city in everlasting shadow, like that asteroid from Armegeddon!!!!!!!!!!

There already is an active discussion on this topic here.
