Can anyone recommend any places around the city that have karaoke rooms you can rent for private parties?

I know of fuji mountain, but heard there might be some in chinatown as well.

Karaoke is Japanese. No-Rae-Bang (spelling?) is Korean for "song room" -- they are private rooms with karaoke machines in each room. There are a bunch of them near 5th Street in the northeast. Prices vary depending on the size of the room. $20-30/hour.

Yes, I have. It's decent box-style karaoke. English song selection is OK, but the location is great. There seem to be lots and lots of Chinese songs, and a friend told me that there are Japanese songs as well. The machines are all in Chinese, but with 2 minutes of navigation, you should be able to figure it out.

I had been hearing rumors of this place for a while... it was near impossible to find, and I never saw a single advertisement for it. I can't believe how hard it was to find, but I'm glad I know about it know. Everyone keeps asking for this kind of karaoke in Chinatown, and there's never much of an answer, so hopefully word can get out about this place.

Aqua has a great 2nd floor room with karaoke for private parties.

Not a karaoke bar in the strict sense of the word but much more fun is Cascamorto 20th & Arch. This new piano bar is already pulling a large crowd and a whole lot of fun. Think of it as 'live' karaoke

what is box-style karaoke???? The machine is in Chinese....I see myself spending most of the night trying to turn the Chinese version of "Fire and Rain" off of the karaoke machine.

When you say that the English songs are "OK"....that says to me.... lots of REO Speedwagon with Chinese backup singers.
