I'm curious as to why those black dudes dressed up like Klan members are so angry...and why are they dressed up like the Klan?
Not for nuthin' but whenever I bring friends or family around CC for a visit I make sure to try to steer clear of "the megaphone". The problem is, if I let my friends even get a whiff of this nonsense they want to check it out. Thinking that this is a true experience of the city that you just can't get in some rural town in Western Pennsyltucky. Completely embarrassing. I don't know how, but I'm sure City Blue is to blame for this nonsense. Right Funk? ![]() |

Except you're showing Latimer Street. Even scrolling to the right, St James Street is barely visible. (behind the Apartment Bldg on Locust). |

Strange Phenomenon:
We like to occasionally go the Curtis Institute to listen to the student recitals. It is really relaxing and those kids are really talented. And while I don't listen to that much classical music on the hi-fi....this is a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is one curious thing about the recitals however. We have noticed that there are a few people that seem to show up at all of these. I call them.... "The Sleepers". So they go over there and within minutes they are snoring louder than the bassoon solo. It is an amazing thing to watch. One older guy who comes alone we've noticed before. He catches more Z's at these things than anyone. Once, the guy sitting next to him, a total stranger, had to constantly hold him up so that he didn't fall face first into the aisle. The last time that we went...a man was sleeping with his mouth to the ceiling and making more noise than a broken air-conditioner. And it was a really phlegmy snore. Two guys, who looked like business associates, came together in their business attire, and slept through the whole concert. As they were walking out, we heard them say...."wow, that was terrific." Those kids up there are really playing their hearts out. And they are far more talented at something than I'd ever pretend to be. So can't we show some respect and drink a cup of coffee before showing up for the free show. Or at least leave if you can't keep the drool in our mouth. sidenote: the slowest place in the entire city is the steps going in and out of the recitals. I really feel like a spring chicken when I go there. There are a few folks that are almost walking on their bellies as they try to make it up the stairs. It is kind of sad. But Vine Street at rush hour has nothing on the line getting out of those things. |

What's with Amtrak at North Philadelphia station? I mean, do they have a lot of people getting on/off there? Seems like a stop further up in the Northeast would make more sense...something a little closer than Trenton for the New York-goers.

The station is notable for the large park and ride facility built there, with direct access to and from Interstate 95 and Pennsylvania Route 63. The parking lot was built by PennDOT in anticipation of construction on I-95 and opened in 1997.[1] It has 1,600 parking spaces, making it by far the largest parking lot in the SEPTA system. It's at Woodhaven Exit on 95 and is basically the NE.
