Default 23rd and Cherry St Development

Does anyone have information regarding the new development (Cherry Street West?) apparently going up between Cherry St and Race St on 23rd? It is where the parking lot is located now. THanks

This picture has been around for a while---I wonder too if this is still moving forward?

It's been advertised in the PW's real estate section in the back for the last couple of weeks at least.

yuck. That design is awful. It's not 1991 anymore. Why can't we have more quality "modern" residential projects in Philadelphia? And when some developers try "modern," it's really ugly -like the new townhouse development on Cherry Street near the Franklin Institute.

Yes, I've had it with these cardboard box palaces.

I live a block from there and haven't seen any signs of construction yet. The architecture isn't exactly inspired, but it is what buyers seem to want. The architecture is also similar to many other townhouse projects of decades past that virtually dominate the neighborhood. Therefore, while it doesn't aestetically add to the neighborhood, it does, for better or worse, "fit in."

I agree. They're not beautiful, but they look like they'd be nice homes to live in.

No project annoys me more then this. Its not the design, I don't think its that bad, its the location. Why are we putting townhomes right in parts of center city that should have office or reseidential towers?

No and NIMBY comments, I expect that. It has to be more then that.

Why should that neighborhood have a tower? It's pretty a much a backwater by CC standards. I can see putting a tower or larger building along the river, e.g. on that lot across 23rd from the Orens Bros. renovation project, but this lot is inland a block - isn't it?
