could be worse, could be better. lots of potential...I men lots. nearest supermarkets are the twin beasts at 10th and south...whole food/super fresh. best combo ever (of two markets). easy to pick and choose. parking is vlidated and free on sundays next up is Acme at 10th and passyunk..convenient to the italian market for supermarket small vendor shopping. also, RTM at 12th and filbert...validated $2 parking. close to subway..huge plus...most reliable line in philly. just check it out at midnight some night...broad is a pretty safe street.

I don't know much about Kater, but feel 15th is a pretty good corridor. I generally take 15th or Broad into CC and have never had an issue. Kater seems nice in that it is very close to CC but is residential. I agree with el, check it out at night to assess your comfort level. The area is getting better every day and I believe is going to be great, but you have to make sure you can live with it now.

Restaurants: You'll be close to lots of stuff on South. There are a few pizza places and take-out chinese places. There's also Pumpkin, Apamate, Pico de Gallo, Ron's Ribs...there's also a good coffee place on 15th & South (Jouvay Java). You're also very close to all of the decent places in CC. I suggest you check out the resources sticky in the SWCC forum for more options.
