Default Harleysville & Souderton

Hey folks,

My wife and I have been looking at homes in both these areas. Just wanting to get a feel from anyone who lives out that way, and see if they like it. What are the parks like, easy shopping areas, how is traffic? those type of things. We have taken drives out that way, and seem to think it will be a great place to move to....any thoughts is GREATLY appreciated !

thanks

Harleysville and Souderton are the sixth and seventh circles of hell, respectively. With gas at $4.10 a gallon, do you really want to live in the outer exurbs of Montgomery County?

If you like the feel of rural living, the areas around Souderton would be for you. Souderton Borough itself is undergoing some revitalization and is looking better these days. There are plenty of grocery and drug stores to pick from, but if you are looking for some heavy duty shopping you'll probably have to go to Montgomeryville.

Traffic on the main roads is busy, but once you learn the back roads things get a lot easier.

I grew up in Souderton and went through Souderton schools. It's nice there. There is a new playhouse (relatively new) in the downtown area, which is a great addition. It's called the Montgomery Playhouse, I believe. They do great shows. There are also some new stores and restaurants around there.

It may interest you (or may not, depending if you have kids) to know there is a brand new high school set to open in 2009.

There's a lot of new construction in the area, that's for sure. Yes, you'll be hopping to Montgomeryville for the mall, but it's only a 15 minute drive or so.

Enjoy, let me know if you have specific q's.

JK
