Default How is the commute from the Main Line suburbs?

Will be working down near Lincoln Financial Field. Are there any main line suburbs that would be 30 mins or less from there during rush hour?

If you're looking strictly mainline, you'll want to get closer to either the Philly border or out to 476. It's easy to cut through West Philly from Bala Cynwyd/Narberth/Ardmore. And South Philly is a pretty easy drive down 476 to 95N from Broomall/Havertown/Radnor.

But either way traffic is going to be a pain. It might be 30 minutes under perfect conditions. But can't say you'll make that time during rush hour to South Philly. You might have better luck in Delaware County - places like Media/Springfield/Ridley Park - which would cut down your time on 476.

There's not many easy ways to cut into South Philly from the West because of the refineries and the way 76 runs.

PS - are you a super-star NFL wide receiver under an assumed name ?

Thanks for the info.

And so sorry to disappoint, but the NFL has thus far shown no interest in 5'4" 120 lb out-of-shape female wide receivers

30 minutes from the Main Line... not really. You might want to try some of the towns in Delaware County like Wallingford, Media or Swarthmore. They're not the Main Line, but they're still very nice and a short distance from where you're working. Taxes in Delaware County will be slightly higher than Main Line.

Delco all the way, the closer in to the city the better...take a look at Springfield and Drexel Hill or if you like a liberal area, Wallingford/Swarthmore or Media for a walkable downtown...realizing of course these put you further away from work...

Unless there's an absolute necessity for you to live in the suburbs, you might consider the Girard Estates area in the city. It would make your commute less than 10 minutes, and it has most of the features of the older parts of the Main Line.

Here's pics, map of the neighborhood, etc:
