soulsurv, I KNOW what Jesus meant in his statement to Peter. Peter's name was "Simon" and was changed to "Peter" ("Cephas"). He became the "rock" upon which Jesus would build his church. Thanks for your input!
Simon Wolf, it's "BYZANTINE". As for your statements, "La noncuranza e' il maggiore disprezzo."
leighland, I responded to a thread in the Burbs section. It was started here BEFORE I answered it. Cool your jets.

Actually, in the original Greek, he calls Peter "Petros", which is the same word in a different case that he uses for rock ("petra"). It's a really neat bit of wordplay, but it always seemed like rather thin ground to build a major Christian sect on.

You can argue theologically that Catholicism is the one true faith as its lineage runs through Peter, but you cannot deny that historically speaking, Catholicism is just a splinter group of the Eastern church.

Preesi,

The Catholic Church isn't going anywhere. Sorry, bud. I'm extremly grateful for my 12 years of Catholic education. I cant wait to send my kids to Catholic school!

And, again, why was this thread under the Burbs???
