Default Jeffersonville

Hey guys,

My wife and I recently bought a townhome in Jeffersonville/West Norriton area. I have to set up my cable/internet/phone. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions or deals anyone has heard of. I heard comcast is big there. What are typical charges for installation for new construction?

I live in West Norriton/Jeffersonville as well and I'm getting Verizon FIOS installed tomorrow. I'll see how it goes. Comcast was bvecoming too expensive and I had issues with the VOIP.

Sounds good. I'd appreciate if you let me know how it goes. How much are you paying for installation etc.? Are you getting all three services? If so, how's your prospective monthly bill. If i'm prying too much, feel free to tell me to back off. What sort of issues were you getting with Comcast and what's VOIP? Thanks

We just got Fios here in Conshohocken. So far, it has been great. I thnk installation was something like 30 bucks. We have: 3 cable boxes, 1 being a High Def with a DVR, high speed internet, and a landline..HBO too. OUr bill after taxes and surcgarges should be about $150-160. That was about what we were paying with comcast, minus a home phone line. Plus we have an extra box and a DVR now. With Comcast we didnt have that. We are also getting a free 19 flat screen inch TV sent to us.

I actually just found out that I don't think they offer Verizon Fios in my area. I'm going to give them a call and find out tomorrow.

If HD is a priority, I would highly recommend Dish Network. Comcrap is too damn expensive and they have limited bandwidth so they have to compress the hell out of the images...not good on HD or larger tvs...Fios only offers 30 HD channels.
With Dish, I got something like 130 channels and over 70 HD channels, HD DVR that holds 160 hours of HD and can be accessed from 2 tvs (1 standard def) plus HBO and 2 extra sat boxes for $80 a month...we just upgraded to Showtime for an extra $5 a month...and I have had maybe one weather related outage for a few minutes...with Comcrap some channels would be out all the time...I cant tell you how many Tivo shows would be blank recordings with the Comcrap "Channel not available at this time" message...I have heard Fios is good but something about the channel changes taking a while...I imagine like using Tivo to change your cable box (a pain in the butt waiting for the pause). If you like sports, Direct Tv is the way to, for Philly sports, you should get Comcrap or go to a friend's house or the corner bar, which is what I would do...

I definitely like sports (go Giants!!!), and would love to have Direct TV. A couple of concerns though: 1. I have to find out if my townhouse community allows for satellite dishes to be installed 2. I wanted to get a landline and highspeed internet as well so I was thinking the bundle packages would be more cost-effective. Do you currently have a landline/internet, and if so, who do you use and how much is a typical bill? I really appreciate all your help. Thanks again.

I'm roughly going to being paying $160-165 for internet, cable and telephone. I opted to get Showtime and HBO. I forget the whole breakdown for installation though. Just sitting here trying to figure out if I should be taking the tv out of the tv cabinet for when the technician comes tomorrow and how much furniture moving do I really need to do for my FIOS installation. Verizon has been busy getting lines installed in West Norriton recently.
NSDDS, since you're in the area, be sure to check out Zwahlens for ice cream!!

The Fios installation wasnt that bad, although the tech will be there almost all day. It wasnt really intrusive. They installed some big power box in my basement, and ran some wires, but I didnt have to move any furniture.

That's why I had to get Fios. It's the only other company that carries Comcast sports. This way I will be able to watch the Phils win the NL east again this year!!!!!!
