The running topic should keep everyone updated if they are interested. I found this site a while back when I was looking at mall design pictures, but didn't know there was a discussion going on. Im just a couple of posts into it and it appears that Abercrombie wants all 5 of their stores in the mall. I had no idea they had 5. |

The Ardmore store is better than the KOP store. Take the R5, get off at Ardmore. Suburban Square is right there on your right. |

However, the Macy's to Strawbridge's end has been stronger and has attracted a number of higher end stores within the last 10 years, including bebe, Banana Republic and so forth. Rouse, later PREIT, didn't want to position Moorestown higher than Cherry Hill for a number of reasons (one being, Moorestown has a the dry town status which prevents upscale restaurants, and other being that Macy's and a number of high end stores were already at Cherry Hill and not at Moorestown at the time), so Nordstrom for a long time had no place to go. Deptford might have worked, but... If Sears was smart, they could have sold their store at Moorestown Mall awhile ago to Nordstrom, and just opened Sears at any of the emerging big box centers. But, anyways moot point. I suppose time has changed and Nordstrom is assuming a more central position [Strawbridge's no longer there], with frontage facing Route 38, so it counters that effect. But, I do wonder how people (esp. west of Cherry Hill but east of the DE River) will be able to afford Nordstrom stuff with their prices. Right now the Macy's side of the mall looks a little more downscale than usual, and PREIT seems to have cleared the walkway a lot so that in front of Apple and Armani, there is nothing. I think that void along with the construction going on is making the Macy's side not so great, but over time the mall should be an A mall again, and PREIT shall gets its return. The JCPenney, however, still looks problematic - it needs a new facade , or it needs to be demolished and rebuilt. PREIT is also positioning Moorestown as an ancillary mall with weird combination of stuff, so it won't be confusing the A list chains that may say "hey, we'll take the cheaper rent, and position at Moorestown instead of Cherry Hill" While big boxes have taken mall share, you have to realize that CH Mall its assuming the retail lost at Echelon Mall as well, so it should be the premier mall for most residents in Camden and Burlington County. I know in the Allentown/Reading market, Wilkes Barre/Scranton and Harrisburg/Lancaster/York markets, there is a dept. store chain called The Bon Ton. It competes against Boscov. Has The Bon Ton shown any interest in the Philly metropolitan area suburban malls in recent times? While we already have Boscov, JCPenney and Kohls, I think their price points might reach a wider group than Nordstroms. Last edited by chris12 : 05-28-2008 at 02:58 PM. |

EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) recently opened in Moorestown Mall, BTW. Haven't yet been in there to check it out. They're usually in strip malls, so it should be interesting to see how they do. There's so many stores *around* Moorestown mall now that I sometimes go there.
I recently tried the nearby Produce Junction and liked it, but it appears to have been razed as of last week. |

There's a place already: Burlington Center Mall, Burlington NJ
http://www.shopatburlington.com/ I'd like to find out the rent per sq.ft of enclosed inline space of Burlington Center to CH Mall. Last edited by chris12 : 05-28-2008 at 08:44 PM. |
